Crosby MansionIn 1998 the Bing Crosby Estate was featured as a decorator showhouse in Hillsborough, California. Katherine Crosby still lives there, but she had to move out while an army of Interior Decorators descended on the mansion, bringing legions of contractors to renovate the home. Needless to say, because of the time constraints put on completion of the work, traffic jams were the rule of the day. The show was a complete success, drawing over 60,000 visitors from around the world to tour the beautiful estate.

Several of the designers came to Artistic Tile & Stone as the source for quality Tile & Stone. We were very pleased to accomodate them. Here are a few photos of what we provided. On a few of the pictures, you won't see the entire rooms, because we took the pictures prior to the rooms being completed.

In the kitchen, a tumbled marble backsplash was accented by a stylized "C" for Crosby. Our Artist used ceramic glaze and fired it onto the marble to insure that it will never get accidentally rubbed off.

Daughters Bath #14 - In this bathroom, a Cippolino Green Marble floor was set with Italian Vanilla inserts. In the tub surround, Italian Vanilla marble was set. In the center of the back wall of the tub a stylized fleur de lis pattern of Cippolino Green was cut into the marble using water jet cutting.

This Bathroom was a tile on tile job. Rather than remove the existing shower which was basically in good shape and still water tight, the designer chose to have Durango Cream Antique limestone 12x12 tiles set on top of the existing ceramic tile. To enhance the look, corners were cut out of some of the limestone, and a ceramic tile deco dot inserted. Additionally, ceramic tile relief liners were used as an accent line which was carried outside the shower and used as a cap with limestone below for a wainscot.
Designer: Sherry Faure - Woodside

On the kitchen floor, tiles of Durango Antique light 12x12 limestone were set in a diagonal pattern in the center of the room, with a strip of Galaxy Black Granite inlaid around the perimeter. At the corners a classic corner was used.
